Dr. Matthew Randal, Au.D., is an audiologist specializing in the treatment of bothersome tinnitus at IlluminEar Tinnitus and Audiology Center in Austin, Texas. Matthew is a new audiologist with primary experience identifying and treating audiological disorders such as hearing loss, sound sensitivity, and tinnitus. Prior to entering the field as a practitioner, Matthew was a patient with hearing loss, tinnitus, and hyperacusis.
His experiences as a patient inspired him to transition from brewing chemist to audiologist with the primary goal of improving care for patients suffering from tinnitus. He has volunteered with the American Tinnitus Association and the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association for several years to champion the mission of better hearing and to improve our understanding and treatment of tinnitus and hyperacusis for millions worldwide.
Dr. Randal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He later earned a Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Randal completed his clinical externship at the Olin E. Teague Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Temple, Texas where he received intensive training in audiovestibular assessment and treatment including vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation, cochlear implants and other implantable aids, and tinnitus management.
As an individual with chronic tinnitus and as a previous patient, Dr. Randal has a uniquely informed perspective influencing his approach to patient care particularly for those suffering from tinnitus.
When not with patients, Dr. Randal enjoys reading, cycling, and spending time with his beloved cat, Lily.
